By buying urban real estate from R$ 1 000 000 in the South, Southeast or Central-West, or R$ 700 000 in the North and Northeast, and meeting the programme requirements, the investor obtains residence in Brazil. After permanent residence is issued and four years of living in Brazil, the investor may apply for citizenship.
Marriage to a Brazilian citizen gives the right to obtain residence. After one year of residence, the applicant may apply for citizenship if all requirements are met.
A child receives Brazilian citizenship by birth. The parent may obtain residence and, after one year of residence, apply for citizenship if the requirements are met.
Study residence requires enrolment at an educational institution, proof of funds for living expenses, and the documents required by Polícia Federal.
Digital-nomad residence is for remote work for a foreign employer or clients. It requires income of at least US$ 1 500 per month or bank funds of at least US$ 18 000. The term is up to one year and may be renewed.
Work residence is issued with an employment contract or job offer from a Brazilian employer. It does not grant citizenship automatically: an application is possible only after meeting the general naturalisation requirements, including the residence period.
A recognised refugee receives residence. Four years after applying for recognition of refugee status, the person may apply for citizenship if the legal requirements are met.
Residence and citizenship

By purchasing property worth at least R$ 1 000 000 (about US$ 200 000), you become the owner of the asset and may apply for a residence permit. After meeting the requirements of Brazilian law, you may become eligible to apply for citizenship.
